Friends of the East Fork opposes additional mining at Storedahl Daybreak Location!

View of Storedahl Daybreak Gravel Mine Area with East Fork Lewis River running through it

By using incomplete and outdated science and big money lobbyists, the Storedahl company has managed to get dangerously close to approval on this project.  Federal agencies, ignoring even their own internal evaluations condemning the project, are leaning toward approval of Storedahl’s mitigation plan for mining re-activation and expansion.  Storedahl already has the Tebo pit which is high up on a bench less than three miles away. It was recently granted an expansion of about an additional 70 acres. There will be no loss in jobs if they’re denied permits for this expansion on the Daybreak Mine. Storedahl wants additional expansion in the wrong place, even when it means severely damaging our river, which scientists insist it will.  And, there is also the impingement of our property rights by granting special “take” provisions up and down the river.

Another way to help save the East Fork

In order to make sure support for this mining expansion is stopped at all levels, we are encouraging supporters to contact Governor Locke and Senators Cantwell and Murray.

It’s easy.  Just call the people below and tell them:

“I’m calling to let you know that I oppose any expansion of the

Storedahl mining operation on the East Fork of the Lewis River.”

You don’t have to be an expert on the issue.  You won’t be asked to debate it on the phone.  But a staff member will register your call, and your concern will be passed along.  It’s easy, and these calls can make a huge impact.  By giving just 10 minutes of your time, you can affect the outcome of this issue.  Please call…
